Hey Dan;
Same focus as in the “golf pro lesson swing plane” video and you can check out the “Golf Pro Lesson timing and tempo update” and “bilateral Golf swing” videos too;

u just need practice. keep doing it. and in no time you will be hitting the right spot. try to concentrate on your swing motion initailly than where you hit on the ground. once the swing is groved it wil come automatically

Hey Shawn,
When I try this drill I find it difficult to hit the same spot on the ground. I’m guessing it’s because I’m trying to hit it. Where should my focus be or what is the main thought here to keep the swing plane intact? Thanks.

Awesome drill, I’ve been trying the perp. motion thing in my backyard and started hitting the ball much straighter. Thanks again Shawn, from Stonington, CT

hi shawn from germany. still snow here. waiting for spring. Question: Worked with the perp-drill and its really fantastic. feels a bit strange but the result is unbelieveable! doing this drill is a very steady movement. there is no time to worry about the movement of the arms, hands, hips etc. it is working by its own. BUT: to speed up, is it really only the “push the kids swing-analogy”? I suspect that its very hard to speed up in this short-termed time period… thanks from germany!

Hey Shawn,
Jim Flick has referred to this drill on Golf Channel. I felt worn out just watching you go through those 16? balls!
Question: How far apart are those balls?
When I play my sand iron I feel like I take too much divot. Should I be skimming or coming in flatter. I may have a mental block with my lofted irons to 7iron.
Little help if you please.

Hi and thanks for your comment;
This is why I came out with my DVD; it has all the important aspects of technique and training in order of importance and disc 3 has all the shots executed on course from Driver to putter; 4 hours on 3 discs all filmed from scratch! For $40.00 it is a real gift and you will enjoy it very much. Just go to the “My DVD” page on my website; Shawn

Shawn,
I am a 13 HC’er. I came across your videos the other day and I’m really enjoying them. Very informative. Do you have any recommendations on which order to go through them all?

This is the BEST drill to find your tempo. Correct tempo will transform your swing! Don’t ignore this drill. It will eat balls quickly but is well worth it. Shawn knows what he’s talking about!

Thanks 14thjuly! I will see what I can do about that!

Hey GolfRules!
What you want to do is combine this drill with the “Braced Tilt”, “Braced Tilt part 2″, “Proper spine tilt” and “Great driver tip” videos; they are all on the “You Tube Shawn” page of my website…Thanks for the question and you will see exactly what has been going on through those 4 vids;

Hi Shawn,
I’m becoming a fan of your method of instruction. After watching many of your videos I can see a lot of great simplistic drills which I attempt to copy. However because video is a 2 dimesional medium I can’t walk around you to check things - I don’t see how far hips turn, shoulders turn or the swing path etc. Could you do a video with the camera mounted several feet above you, so that it captures all of these things?

Very very solid personal discovery on your part!!
I find myself repeating this to my students on a regular basis!
Listen and wait for that momentum and do not interrupt it’s flow! You the man!

Good question! I call it the perpetual motion drill (Or Perp drill) which I have been using for well over a decade and have not seen many others refer to this drill; the use of it with regards to hitting balls is the “Half Happy Gilmore” drill;
And yes, you can adapt it to just about any aspect of your swing, short game and putting, including knock down shots! Thanks for the comment and questions, Shawn

Thank you, Mr Clement. You are one of the most educational, professional golf instructors I’ve ever seen. Your videos help me a lot with my game.

Another sweet lesson Shawn! Is there a universal name for this drill among teaching pros? Also, would it be advisable to practice my low knockdown shot in this manner?

Excellent video like always Shawnsky! I’ve found that patience is a KEY part of the perpetual swing. If I speed up from the top I get pulls hooks and some hosel shots. But when I let the club fall and assist the club halfway down…BANG!…what a solid and effortless hit. Definitely need to be patient!!
Thanks again!!

Yes! Your routine must be well rehearsed and stay well below 40 seconds; 25 seconds is good. I have 2 videos for this: “Golf Pro Lesson Routine”, “golf Pro lesson Pinehurst 100th episode” and “Takeaway and starting the swing” is very important to understand so you do not allow the body to be still before you swing; thanks for the comment! Shawn
