Mk2 gti,amazing car,good and fast car.

I love my ‘92 GTI! My first car, and I can’t imagine myself owning any other make/model thank a MK2 for a long time. Right now it’s a standard 8V and is getting some basic TLC the previous owner never paid it, but soon I’ll be doing some major overhauls. LOVE IT!!

I’ve owned my 1989 mk 2 for 5 years with 2 previous moaners and lots of minor under bonnet mods. I love how they make out what they did was only known to mechanics. Buy a bloody golf mag’, all mods were fair standard by any decent golf enthusiast. Sadly mine has sat in storage, mint, 3 screamin kids and crap wages!

I had one, pure **** (may be because I wasn’t first owner). The best thing I ever do with it is sale. It spend all money. Each day new problems!! Total waste of money!!

People dont understand these cars until they drive one. Honda guys laugh when you tell them that its “tuned to 150hp”. Once you race them or take them for a ride, they scratch their heads and ask you to open the hood. When the engine is built and suspension work is done with better tires, these cars grip the ground like theyre riding on rails. Its scary because you struggle to make the car slide or lose control so you end up taking corners EXTREMELY QUICK. I’m talkin 80mph around hairpin turns.

No most GolfII in the U.S. were built in Mexico. And it doesnt make a difference where its built, the difference in quality is unnoticeable between mexican vws and german ones. I have a mk2 jetta on steroids.
2.0 ABA bottom end, 8v counterflow head P&P with 270 cam, bmw MAF, TT chip, 75hp wetshot nitrous, Full exhaust with header, H&R shocks/springs, full suspension with swaybars and braces from neuspeed, wider pirelli tires. Without Nitrous it ***** the SVT Ford Focus (170hp).

Sadly, most Golf II in the U.S. were built in Pennsylvania and total turds. That said, the Mk II 16v GTi (slightly prepared w/ cam, suspension, brakes and exhaust) was one of the favorite VWs I’ve owned.
