lol lucky for these 3 mfrs the wrx wagon is not considered a ‘hot hatch’ because of its 4doors+hatch, else they would all have gone home crying in their pints!! lol

Yeh i agree with you there, you don’t get the badge but for the same money the BMW would be not be as good in the performance department, if BMW were as good performance wise then it can sometimes add £5,000-£10,000 to the costs which like myself and many others cannot afford. Depends what appeals to you, personally i think £20k for a 220bhp+ good looking , good handling, spacious reliable hot hatch is fantastic.

well, doesn’t the BMW series 3 give you comfort of a family car for long journeys, room in the boot and the cabin, and waay better handling? rear wheel drive really makes a huge difference. And you’re a BMW owner. How does it feel compared to having a Ford, Opel/Vauxhall or VW?

Because Saturn doesn’t excists in Europe, and Vauxhall does in the UK. In the rest of Europe it’s called Opel.

Not at all, hot hatches are all about people who enjoy a quick drive up a country road but also the comfort of a family car for long journeys, some offer up half the performance of a high market super car yet still having a huge boot, room for the kids, a high safery rating and for near enough pocket money, BMW’s are all about class and prestige, brilliant car’s but you can get the same if not more performance with Fords and the likes, sure, they arent as well built, but just as good to drive…

waait, aren’t all of those cars just sensless? Think of any of those, your first choice - Focus for instance. It may be fast, but it’s stil a Ford Focus! wouldn’t it anoy you that you spend sooo much money on such a car? why not to buy something much better for the same money. I don’t know what the prices where you live are, but you’d be albe to afford a 3 or 4-year old BMW, probabely.

they do, but Vauxhall isn’t a brand in the US and Buick/Saturn/Pontiac aren’t brands in Europe so they rebadge things.

I was told that GM owns vauxhall is that true.

i went to the vauxhall web site to look at the cars all most all of them look like Buicks or Saturns and Pontiacs.

….because Vauxhall isn’t a company in the US, GM isn’t changing any names, they have the rights to sell that car in the US so they badge it as a Saturn.

Focus RS? not crap

Out of all the hot hatches with 200+bhp today the vauxhall would be my last choice, just knowing how much understeer it had would drive me mad, nippy responsive handling is as important as power in these cars in my opinion.

1st - Focus ST (facelift)
2nd - Golf GTi (mk7)
3rd - Megane Sport 225 (new)
4th - Astra VXR

The focus offers up the looks and speed of the VXR with decent handling like the Renault and a civilised drive like the Golf, i think it’s the best compromise.
