I stayed up to the early hours of the morning just wanting Tom Watson to win the British Open. When he missed that putt to put him into the playoff with Cink I knew he was ’sunk’. I didn’ want to watch him lose so I went to bed. He has my admiration and respect as a golfer and a gentleman…..there’s always next year.

After months of frustration, THIS is the one tip that’s worked for me. Works right from the driver to the putter (yes, even the putter). Such a simple tip!

Even the great ones get the yips. The pressure of hitting that putt and the history it would have made was too much. He simply deccelerated at impact thus the poor putt. Clearly a result of nerves. I wish he would have made it.

Such a shame, a true gentleman of the sport. It’s been a long time since he has been in such a position, and considering his putting woes throught he end of his career, he held himself together much better than any of us could have.

Yeah, you’re probably right. But something inside of me was telling me that he shouldn’t have putted that time…

In Watson’s interview following the tournament, he said that he did consider the nine. I noticed that there are many random mounds and plain inconsistencies on the greens they were playing… it looked like that shot could have wound up much closer with a slightly different landing spot. I am not contradicting what you say, but this caddy having the guts to tell Tom Watson what club to hit in order to win a British Open would be like telling Ben Hogan to go with the 3 iron in 1950.

Tell us about choking after you have won your fifth Open, okay? That label is really more correctly applied to those who can’t break through for their first win, or first major.

He putted on 17 and it worked out. I think it was a good play to putt. He sadly just hit a poor par putt.

Thanks for the memories Tom. I hope it isn’t the last time we see you in contention.

I think I saw this same guy on tv today on some sports update on the British Open. I don’t go golfing but when he says “I figured out the golf swing … I believe him, especially when he’s on of the sports news world at age 59. Indeed, he done figured it out.

If he had only chipped it instead of putting it, he may have won the championship, felt really sorry for him

God Bless you Tom! Hi hit the middle of the fairway on 18. He pured it perfectly right at the flag for the second. It is the caddies fault for not telling Tom to hit one less club - He executed solid shots!

was surprised he chose to putt with that much grass behind the ball on 18.. what an historic run tho.

this week, watson at age 59 attained a higher level in golf than the level you will ever achieve at anything in your entire life or the entire life of anyone in your family

The 8-iron on 18 was dead-solid…unlucky bounce…not a choke.

I bet you have never had a chance to choke, though…never been in contention in your life…

TW is a class act…the other TW could learn a thing or two from him…so could you.

Tom laid an egg with that putt on 18. He had a great chance to put it away.
